Meet the Team: Alek Roberts
Welcome to Reggora’s Meet the Team series! Reggora is powered by a team of smart, hard working people dedicated to the mission of appraisal innovation, and we’ve all taken very different paths to get here. In this series, we’ll introduce you to different members of the Reggora family. This week features Alek Roberts, who joined Reggora in December of 2018 to lead operations for the appraiser side of the Reggora platform.
Q: Tell us about yourself. Where did you grow up? Go to school? What do you enjoy doing? (Bonus points for fun facts)
A: I grew up in Albany, NY in a real estate family. My father was a homebuilder and mother a real estate broker. I attended Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. I moved to Boston after college to be close to the ocean and the beaches. I enjoy outdoor activities like fishing, golf and beers by the fire! I love to cook and enjoy a good time with my friends and family. Fun fact, my wife and I caught a 92 inch, 300 LB tuna on a fishing trip last summer.
Q: Where did you work before Reggora?
A: I previously worked at Pro Teck Valuations, a national AMC provider. I was lucky enough to build a wonderful team that achieved some great accomplishments together. A highlight that comes to mind was beating the company’s single day revenue record. The even better part is that the team went on to break our own record four more times! I was very grateful to receive the “Above and Beyond” award with my team after setting these records.
Q: Why did you join the Reggora team?
A: I joined Reggora because the appraisal industry is ready for some massive improvements and I felt Reggora would be on the front lines to make a difference in the industry. I remember the last economic meltdown and experienced a lot of the negatives firsthand. Our technology improves the lender’s environment and efficiency, and the positive impact can be felt by the consumer.
Q: Why do you believe in what Reggora is building?
A: I believe in what Reggora is building because of the culture and leadership that Brian and Will have created at Reggora. Our collaborative culture and innovative leadership have helped us to build technology that cannot be matched. In my role at Reggora I am lucky enough to have the experience of using and driving development of the industry’s top technology in the appraisal space since 2009. Once I was exposed to Reggora’s platform and had my “ah-ha” moment, I was hooked!
Q: How has Reggora grown or changed since you’ve been here?
A: Reggora has grown, matured and changed in many ways. When I started we worked from the DCU fintech center, Reggora consisted of 10 employees, and we had just signed our fourth lender. Fast forward two years, 3 office moves, 90+ new employees, and exponential customer growth. This has only been over a span of two years and we are only getting started!
Q: What is your favorite part about being on the Reggora team?
A: My favorite part about working at Reggora is our ability to be a remote company that fully empowers our team members. I feel very connected to my team – we’re always communicating via slack or zoom, and we’ve been able to develop a great remote working culture. We have very talented and committed people focused on achieving success. That’s the perfect fuel to keep our rocket ship on the right path!
Q: Is there anything else you’d like us to know?
A: I’m very thankful to be a part of the Reggora team and I wouldn’t change it for anything.
