In this series, we’ll introduce you to different members of the Reggora family. This week features Jacob Abrams, who joined Reggora in June 2019 to introduce lenders to Reggora's technology.
Jacob Abrams: Director, Business Development
Q: Tell us about yourself. Where did you grow up? Go to school? What do you enjoy doing?
A: I was born in Seoul, Korea and adopted shortly after. I grew up in Texas and Oklahoma, but throughout my past 6 years in tech I’ve been able to travel the entire country. I attended a community college in Tulsa for a short time before leaving to pursue music instead. After being signed to a small local label for 5 years, I decided music is a better hobby than a career path. In my spare time, I enjoy rock climbing, camping, and hiking national parks, but recently most of my time has been spent figuring out how to raise my daughter.
Q: What did you do before you worked at Reggora?
A: I worked at another appraisal technology company for 5 years as a Sr. Sales Rep before joining Reggora. I started as an inside sales rep working with Community Banks and Credit Unions in the midwest and was promoted to a Sr. Sales position shortly thereafter. This was where I learned the ins and outs of appraisal compliance, technology, and why a vendor management platform is so necessary in the mortgage industry.
Q: Why did you join the Reggora team?
A: I wanted to work in a startup atmosphere. After meeting Brian and Will at a conference when they first started Reggora, the company was always on my radar. Learning more about their vision and seeing the technology first hand was what pushed me to make the change. Reggora is full of passionate, self-motivated people and that’s exactly the environment I was looking for.
Q: What do you do here at Reggora?
A: I work with Lenders in our western territory and introduce them to Reggora’s technology, learn more about their current appraisal process, and show where our platform can offer the most enhancements. My day to day consists of demonstrations, consulting lenders on how to best enhance their appraisal workflows with our technology and coordinating a smooth transition with our implementation teams.
Q: What’s something you’ve learned while working at Reggora?
A: I’ve learned that having an open line of communication with your team is very important. The ability to collaborate internally with my colleagues on the fly is a huge value and has proven to be important to providing the best service to our customers. Ease of internal collaboration and communication is a huge advantage of being at a company at Reggora’s stage.
Q: What is something that has surprised you about working at a fintech?
A: Learning more about technology in general, and uncovering how it best operates for each party has been very interesting. Since my first day here I’ve better understood how technology in our space functions and why our major differentiators have made such a large difference in the appraisal tech space and for our customers.
Q: Why do you believe in what Reggora is building?
A: Being on the front lines, I get to see and hear lenders’ first impressions to what we’re doing. We are generating real excitement about appraisal technology, which in my past experience is virtually unheard of. Having been on the team for 18 months now, I’ve been able to clearly see the impact we have made for our customers, both from an efficiency perspective, and a financial one, and have noticed the general outlook on appraisals shifting. Being a part of this team as it grows and continues to innovate is something that drives me each day.
